In a town north-west of Moscow, close to Sheremtyevo Airport, the TJ Collection Group was to build its headquarters and main logistic center. Our proposal integrates in a unique result these two main functions of the building and the three main conditions requested by the client: to create a visible icon for the company, to create ideal working conditions and to make a building which is flexible and functional enough for being a reasonable and sustainable investment. Moscow’s harsh winter climate was one of our concern, and hence the main insulating concept of the proposal, what we call ‘a fist in a sleeve’: to generate spaces wrapped and protected by a continuous thermal surface.
Standard office floors are open-plan and without interior structure. This same scheme we have used successfully in several of our projects: a central core and a perimeter structure along the façade. In this case, the very form of the volume strengthens the rigidity of the ensemble. This layout creates fluent plans in the administration areas and allows a continuous perception of the maximum size, which gives a feeling of unity and belonging: this is a central concept in our proposal as well as a company requirement to generate more corporate proximity.
One of our preoccupations has been to deal with both the warehouse and the headquarters as a single entity. Thus, we propose materials and techniques that make this unified character happen, based in light construction techniques and glass and zinc cladding shared, both for the tower and the warehouse. An important aspect is the treatment of the entrance space, which is designed as an entry oasis, materialized by sloping greenery that brings together the road level and the entry level, leading to a single double-height lobby with natural light.
