PRIZES AWARDED MENTION OF THE JURY AT THE ARCHITECTURE PRIZE OF GIRONA 2019

LOCATION SANT JOAN DE LES ABADESSES, GIRONA, SPAIN DEVELOPER DEPARTAMENT D’EDUCACIÓ (CATALAN GOVERMENT – INFRAESTRUCTURES SAU AREA 1ST PHASE 1.280 M2; FINAL: 5.400 M2; BUDGET 1.834.360 EUR YEARS 2013-2018 (1ST PHASE)

This school represents a radical approach towards industrialized construction with the aim of minimizing the use of materials, layers and elements, obtaining nevertheless a maximization of their environmental and perceptual qualities. The building has been assembled using a very limited number of elements and with a negligible production of waste, in a very short time.

The building is proposed as a constructive and energetic experiment that generates its form and serves as a model for teaching spaces that goes beyond the European nZEB provisions and gets closer to the Passivhaus standard.
